Always check with the Broadfield - 0114 255 0200 - before traveling any distance.
Live rock music every Friday night at the renovated Broadfield (up to four real ales) on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield - plus Open Mic on 1st and 3rd Sundays at around 20:00. The pool tables are gone and there's a dance floor. Bus routes 75/76, 97/98 and others stop outside the pub and close enough not to get wet - catch them outside TJ Hughes or at Moorfoot and ask for the Broadfield. The last 98 goes back to town at 23:46 and the last 76 to Woodseats at 23:50. Lots of hailable black cabs. Bring a couple of quid for a gallon-of-beer raffle to help support the band (there's no door charge - there are too many doors) and maybe a fiver for their CD if you like the noise. Loads of covered space in the yard for the spineless nicotine addicts. No - this isn't an official Broadfield site. They're not that rude.
The Broadfield struggles under onerous planning restrictions and all live music MUST stop at 23:00. Some bands, e.g., Sour Mash, Carnival, are notorious late starters and there is a risk of a short gig.

If you need a music-friendly bed and breakfast, bus services 75/76/97/98 through the city centre pass the Lalbagh Guest House on the other side - ask the driver for Burngreave Road/Minna Road. Watch the whole gig and turn up as late as midnight (by appointment).
