After years of FUD during the PCM wars, IBM finally produces a zIIP DB2 offload processor for the mainframe - not to compete with Sun and Oracle - but with itself. Another welcome nail in the MIPS coffin.

To the question: "Is IBM going to stop building mainframes?" - the answer seems to be "No".
