Removing and refitting the cylinder head

15-018 Checking the cylinder head for distortion

  1. Maximum permissible distortion 0.1mm.

15-702 Removing and refitting the cylinder head

  1. Check that both cam and crank are aligned at TDC#1 before mating the head to the block.
  2. If VAG 3070 is available, screw the pins into holes #9 and #10.
  3. Place cylinder head over pins, screw remaining ten bolts in loosely, remove the VAG 3070 pins with the extractor.
