Hitachi Data Systems is about to reposition Trinium, having solved many of the unexpected problems that caused the previous repositioning, which reduced planned uniprocessor performance by 17% and 12-way performance by 22%.
The rumoured uniprocessor rating is 262 MIPS (the most powerful available) - the performance improvement being higher for larger models because of improvements in multiprocessor coupling.
The repositioning will probably take the form of an announcement of new models - this is almost forced on processor vendors by the problem of clearly defining MSU ratings in legal documents such as software licenses.
